Term 2 so far

Kia ora parents and whānau! I hope that you have been enjoying the last little bits of warm weather we have been experiencing lately, as Winter fast approaches. This post will just be a quick update on the main things that have been happening in Ruma Waru over the last few weeks...

Cross Country

Our school cross country event was a great day, with almost all of our students taking part and showing fantastic support for one another and persistence in their own running. Several of our Ruma Waru students will be representing us in the Northern Zones cross country event this Thursday, which is a great honour for them and for our school. They have been training hard for this and I'm sure they will put in their best efforts at this event.

Swimming

We only have two more weeks of swimming left, and students are making great progress in their swimming groups. Please encourage them to attend the last two sessions if possible, as they are showing good progress. They also are showing themselves to be respectful and responsible of the other members of the public, both at the swimming facility and on the buses. Ka pai!

School Safety

I just want to remind parents that students should only be entering and exiting the school through the small pedestrian only gate and path which leads directly to the school office, and not coming in through the big gate that is used for vehicular access. Our school parking lot and the surrounding areas are very busy in the mornings and afternoons with traffic, and as staff we need to ensure their safety at all times.

School Photos and School Disco

Both of these will be happening this week- the photos are taking place on Wednesday, while the disco is on Friday. It's important that our students always feel inclusion and community within our school, and these are both great opportunities for this, so please do encourage your child to attend the photos and the disco if they are able to do so.
